This 2002 Porsche 911 was brought to our attention with less than ten thousand miles on the clock. Despite those low miles, the paintwork was in need of some serious work to get it looking its best. Years of washing and drying had resulted in moderate-heavy marring which dulled its shine and looked out of place on a car which was otherwise in great shape. We decided on a two-step paint correction to remove ~95% of the marring, plus application of 22ple’s VX-Pro ceramic coating to make maintenance much easier in the future, while also offering great protection against environmental damage for two years.

After a wash and decon process, numerous pad and polish combinations were tried in order to maximize defect removal while minimizing micro-marring. Eventually Meguiar’s M100 compound was mixed with HD Polish in order to decrease dusting and hazing while using Lake Country light cutting pads. This process removed nearly all of the wash-induced marring, but slightly dulled the finish, so CarPro’s Essence was used on Lake Country black foam finishing pad to fully refine the paint. All polishing was performed with the Rupes 21 Mk.II polisher, with the Rupes 75E and Ibrid Nano used in tighter areas. After this, the car was washed and rinsed, and then given a double wiped-down using CarPro Eraser to ensure full removal of any polishing oils and allow for proper bonding of the coating. Following this 22ple VX-Pro was applied, which added a lot of wetness and really made the metallic flake pop.
